Your adventure begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel or the airport, followed by a transfer to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park. During the journey, enjoy views of the surrounding countryside and look out for wildlife along the way. At the gate, your guides will arrange the necessary registration and permits before you begin trekking with an armed park ranger. Follow the trail across open grasslands and through montane forest, where giraffes, Cape buffaloes and antelopes may be spotted. Stop at the beautiful Maio Falls for a short rest and picnic before continuing towards the famous Fig Tree Arch. Arrive at Miriakamba Hut in the afternoon for refreshments, dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, continue your ascent towards Saddle Hut along a steep forest trail, including sections with wooden steps. As you gain altitude, the scenery gradually changes, with misty rainforest giving way to giant heather and open moorland. Enjoy the peaceful mountain atmosphere as you follow the winding path uphill. After approximately two hours of trekking, reach the Mgongo wa Tembo, or Elephant Back, viewpoint at around 3,200 metres, where you can pause to rest and admire the surrounding landscape. Continue towards Saddle Hut, arriving in time to settle in and enjoy a warm lunch. The remainder of the afternoon is reserved for rest, acclimatisation and preparation for the summit attempt. Enjoy dinner before an early night.

Begin your summit attempt around midnight, setting off with headlamps to navigate the challenging mountain trail. Ascend towards Rhino Point at approximately 3,821 metres, taking extra care along steep and rocky sections. Continue along the narrow ridge towards Cobra Point before tackling the final ascent to Socialist Peak, which stands at 4,566 metres. Arrive around sunrise to enjoy spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the magnificent crater of Mount Meru. After celebrating your achievement and taking photographs, begin the descent to Saddle Hut, where you can enjoy hot soup and tea. Continue downhill through the moorland and forest to Miriakamba Hut, where dinner and a well-earned rest await.

Distance: Approximately 6 km from Saddle Hut to Socialist Peak, followed by a long descent to Miriakamba Hut.
Elevation: Saddle Hut (3,570 m) – Socialist Peak (4,566 m) – Miriakamba Hut (2,514 m).
Hiking time: Approximately 10–12 hours.

After breakfast, begin your final descent from Miriakamba Hut to Momella Gate. The trail winds through montane forest and open grassland, providing another opportunity to appreciate the mountain's natural beauty and spot wildlife along the way. Enjoy the fresh morning air and the changing scenery as you gradually descend to the park entrance. Upon arrival at Momella Gate, meet your driver for a transfer back to your hotel in Arusha or to the airport, subject to your onward travel arrangements. Your four-day Mount Meru adventure concludes with wonderful memories of Tanzania's spectacular landscapes, wildlife and rewarding summit experience.
